ahhhh, the farewell, and all its uncertainty and heartbreak, shall be attended to by our collective spirit, in celebration, yes. . . and with this energy, so to the resurrection ....

i hope that yall come in all yer beauty to do it proper . . .
    • passings, endings, renewals, rebirths....

....and to the new thin curved silver sliver of the emerging birthdamp newness:

as the last CHuRCH beat drops we have 30 minutes to run over to the Annex on the Lower east Side
to catch CHuRCH's (and the Freek's) beloved new collaborator, violinist Hannah Thiem's balkan/middle eastern/electronic fusion ensemble Copal arrive all string fire, doumbek hooks and gypsy style at 10:30

I'll have my mini-van so we'll pack as many of the freekin congregation as will fit and can resist the gravitational pull of the post CHuRCH floor puddle hannahthiem.com/copal/gig-...3022008.jpg
      • Myself and some of the COPAL gang will be joining y'all gypsy-style for CHuRCH on the early side...before we run for Annex to get ready for our show. Can't wait to dance and play :)

At the Annex, we'll be present with all of our good selves...including Halley Feaster on 6-string electric cello, Chris Brown on bass guitar and synth, Karl Grohmann on drum kit, Engin Gunaydin on doumbek and riq, and yours truly ~Hannah~ on violin and vocals :)

Our official start time is 10:30p (we say 10p to give people some breathing room) and playing till 11:30p. Tix are $8.
152 Garden Street, Lower East Side, NYC.

Thanks to Mikio and Sooz for offering to transport the freekin congregation as will fit!

        Here's to a grand Sunday!

        xoxo
        Hannah

Am I supposed to read anything into the fact that church is being held by someone with 666 friends ? :)

What are you implying Fastbreak? Take no notice of the peels of diabolical laughter subliminally embedded in the basslines or the
      brimstone temple incense

I aspire to 666 friends as well.

I may still wind up doing my usual post CHuRCH shout out post but first....

....I gotz to do the Fearless appreciation post

This feline does EVERYTHING (for days without rest) to make CHuRCH happen, orchids to alters, doorshift to dervish, stair mop to tiggrr hop, DJ muse to sleep abuse.

And an as yet unforeseen benny of life graced with Tiggrrness:

When one is in a harsh car accident on the thruway one is way less prone to taking on whiplash and other negative body energy information when one's bio-electric matrix is imprinted with Tiggrr dance. Your spine just knows on a deep level that being thrown around in odd relationship to gravity can be a wonderful thing.

                mad love & huge props!

tiggrr is for sure whats's up.

the crew that has congregated to make church happen is truly amazing. thank you to everyone who has stepped up to build and spitshine our sanctum. jefe, eduardo, chelsea, liz, imani, theo, kiana..... so many hands. it is a whole lot of vision, sweat equity and sleeplessness to make sunday afternoon shine like that.

                  church at love easter sunday.

mikio, i love you and i'm sooooo grateful the ungraceful dancemove your vehicle pulled didn't throw you off your contact game . . .

                  maaaaaad looooove and gratitude!

i am so glad to do with you this thing we do . . .

i must say, i am so humbled by the energetic output, the spiritwise generosity of you and haj, our masters of ceremony and custodians of vibe. . . it's really hard to quantify for the peeple the contributions you two bring for the love of the congregation.
i know when i'm in those 22nd-hour deep blue pre-dawn moments of dance-floor deep scrubbing with you that i'm doin the good true work with my brothers.
and hallelujah when the beats drop down in the glowing temple and the floor fills up with the ecstatic love of the peeps, there is the hearthummm, the love to be able to do it.
thank you two for holding it down and allowing me to know the love of service like that.

this month i had sefirah's barefeets to fill, and indeed those are some feats she was holdin down. as haj properly prop't, a fine azz crew stepped up to make this church one of the finest, and certainly the most full-on community effort to date. which felt glooooorious to dance in when the bassbins were whomping and the congregation gathered.

imani's altar majick and hung drum serenade, gayle's flower shui, liz and chelsea's sacred nookification, jefe's master draping and general gung-hoin, eduardo's endless generosity energy and SOOOOUP for 80!!! kiana's crystalline alteriar om, and all the other grandspace residents who did the good work to make such a juicy experience for the community. . .

thank you everyone for showin up with the love! absolutely such a hiiii time!

                  truly, we are blessed.
