they certainly weren't hiding their intentions.
good flick.
see it.
"In the film, V is described as an idea rather than a person," says Natalie Portman, who stars alongside Weaving as Evey Hammond, the young woman in whom V awakens a latent activism. "One of the reasons he is so invincible is because you can kill a man, but an idea can't be killed. So V represents truth, resistance and individualism. But his vengeance taints his political idealism." -

Wed, March 22, 2006 - 9:19 AMyes--tiggrrr's post momentarily confuzled me. but then i realized that they probably set up a projector and screen out on a beach, renegade drive-in style but with more bikes and flying carpets, so that's fine then and everything's still kosher in my worldview. -

Re: A revolution without dancing is a revolution not worth having.
Sat, March 25, 2006 - 10:43 AMlater this afternoon i'm goin' to see vendetta for the second time. it's definitely my favorite comic book movie i've seen yet (though i've liked a few of the adaptations... x-men and spider-man especially.)
i never read the original comics, but word is that alan moore hated what they did to his comic and donated all of his proceeds from the movie to the illustrator of the original comic.
in any case, this movie may be too obvious in its allegorical scenario, but it is definitely a proverbial brick to the skull style "wake up call" movie and i loved it.
are fans of the movie condoning terrorism as the ny times reviewer of the movie said? no more than critics of george dubya are "giving comfort to the enemy" as the masters of war would like us to believe unquestioningly. -

Sat, March 25, 2006 - 10:47 AMRe: this quote, though: "A revolution without dancing is a revolution not worth having".... i'm partial to the original quote (from one of the strongest anarchist voices of the Old School vanguard) myself:
"If I can't dance, I don't want to be part of your revolution." -- Emma Goldman
